About This Project

When Arjun and I heard that Uber needed a new website we raised our hands. When we heard that they needed the new homepage designed, approved, and shipped in 2-3 weeks ahead of a planned April IPO, we were excited and pulled in Yizzy and Patrick to help us iterate rapidly.

Uber had contracted an agency to redo the site, but they were moving too slow, they weren’t able to collaborate quickly with internal teams, and the budget for these pages was. ballooning.

Dara wanted a website that expressed a multi-faceted narrative, in contrast to Uber’s rival company Lyft whose focus was solely ride-sharing, and whose IPO was not significantly spaced from Uber’s own. After a few days, we had over 100 concepts between the 4 of us, and clear concepts/themes began to form in the different variants.

We pushed hard for a product-focused page. We felt that a modern company should lead with product, and if our company truly delivered such a robust platform of platform services, we should offer Uber.com as a hub for these services, not just in the apps but on the Web and mobile web as well.

Take a look at the concepts here and head over to Uber.com to see the final version. There were a lot of compromises to appease all stakeholders to get this shipped within 3 weeks, but regardless it was a fun hustle project.
